Ok, a quick commentary on the pictures....
1) that is Viji washing clothes. she's one of my favorites here (one of the staff at LEAD.) that's probably how i look washing clothes, but not so happy. and i also wash mine inside rather than outside.

2) that's the little baby from one of the villages, chinnur, where some of my favorite adolescent girls live. she was so cute and spent the whole day walking around the village with us--holding onto my scarf or shanti's sari the whole time. at the end, i thought she was sleeping as i was carrying her home, but turns out she was "faking"!! because as we passed her dad she whispered to me "there's my dad".

3) that's the encroachment of the swamp by our office during the floods--taken from the roof of my office. the people in those houses behind had to wade through the water to get in our out, and i would stand on our front porch telling them they really shouldn't do that. i don't think they appreciated that!
